Ocyan Waves Challenge seeks solutions aimed at solving the company's work processes
On February 19th, Ocyan, an oil and gas company, will hold the Demoday of the 4th edition of the Ocyan Waves Challenge, an open innovation program aimed at connecting startups to solve the company's internal challenges. The event will feature the presentation of the results of seven startups.
The startups went through a rigorous selection process, which involved five phases and began with the mapping and registration of 188 startups in April 2024. Of these, 87 were evaluated and 26 went on to present their startups at a pitch week held in June last year.
The seven that stood out the most were invited to immerse themselves in and carry out three-month pilot projects in partnership with Ocyan. The startups and their respective internal company challenges for which they will present their pilot project at the Demoday are as follows:
- Automation of Historical Bid Analysis + Optimization of Document Translation: Tools.law
- Agility and Traceability in Contract Management and Subscription Flow: netLex
- Ocyan's Health, Safety and Environmental Data Integration and Intelligence: Simple Safety
- Automation of storage room processes: Ledcorp
- Engagement Solution for Health and Wellness Practices: Health Avatar
- Digital Transformation in Offshore Work Permits: Prothera
Engagement platform for Ocyan members: Beedoo
The Ocyan Waves Challenge is a program to connect Ocyan with mature startups to solve internal challenges. For the startups, the program is an opportunity to test their technology in a real environment and learn about the problems of a large company in the sector, as well as having the possibility of being hired as a supplier or co-developing a product with Ocyan.
"Our focus is on finding innovative solutions that really meet Ocyan's specific needs and can have a positive impact on our processes. Each pilot carried out allows us to assess the fit of the solutions with the challenges faced by the company, generating tangible results that benefit both parties. The Ocyan Waves Challenge is an opportunity for mutual transformation," says Patricia Grabowsky, Ocyan's Executive Manager for Innovation and People.
Regarding the results of the program, the executive also points out that more than 80% of the startups that carried out pilots with Ocyan were hired: "Our results reflect the success of the initiative and the value generated for everyone involved," she concludes.
Ocyan Waves and market recognition
Ocyan Waves has already mapped more than 800 startups, with more than 30 pilot projects executed, 80% of which have gone on to the contracting stage
Ocyan's open innovation platform, launched in 2019, seeks to stimulate the company's relationship with the startup ecosystem, accelerating the innovation process through two programs: the Ocyan Waves Challenge and the Ocyan Waves Booster.
With the results obtained by Ocyan Waves, Ocyan has been recognized, since 2021, among the 100 companies that best relate to startups according to the TOP Open Corps 2024 Ranking, organized by 100 Open Startups. In 2023, it was ranked as the second-best company in the oil and gas market and was recognized last year as one of the five companies most engaged in open innovation practices in the sector.
