Engineering Projects,
Planning, Removal and Disposal

In 2022, Ocyan winned a contract in the Subsea Decommissioning area to remove flexible pipes and umbilicals from the seabed. The work will take place in the Campos Basin (FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro and FPSO Cidade de Rio das Ostras) and in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin (FPSO Piranema). To accomplish this, engineering activities, offshore recovery operations, transfer to a disposal site, cleaning, conditioning, and final disposal will be conducted.

The total length of the pipes to be removed is approximately 275 km, weighing nearly 20,000 tons, and they are located at depths ranging from 800 to 1700 meters. The project will be executed by the Norwegian vessel Normand Cutter, leased from the company Solstad Offshore.

EPCI offshore

In 2023, Ocyan winned a contract to carry out the revitalization of the gas network in the Campos Basin. We will provide services in offshore EPCI projects, which include engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of equipment. We are partnering with the Portuguese company Mota Engil, which has a strong international presence, especially in Europe and Africa. The offshore activities will take place near the Namorado and Garoupa platforms (PNA-1 and PGP-1), and include the installation of various subsea equipment, including manifolds, and flexible pipe installation. The first stage of the project, involving the engineering phase, is expected to commence immediately, and offshore operations are anticipated to begin in 2025. The execution of the Campos Basin network revitalization project involves hiring professionals, specialists, and technicians from various fields.

Our experience

Chartering and operation of flexible riser deployment units, SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines) projects, and export lines, as well as manufacturing and installation of subsea equipment.

Ocyan was the first Brazilian company to operate in the Subsea sector in the country and the first to use the MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) technique. The company is committed to continuous innovation, providing sustainable, safe, and financially attractive solutions.

PIPE LAYING SUPPORT VESSEL (PLSV)

Ocyan operated, from 2014 to 2019, in partnership with the French company TechnipFMC, through the TOP Joint Venture, in the operation of the TOP Estrela do Mar and TOP Coral do Atlântico units along the Brazilian coast. These flexible pipe-laying vessels (PLSVs) were the only units in Petrobras' subsea interconnection fleet to successfully install production lines with a silicone layer.

COMPRISER® (COMPOSITE MULTI-BORE HYBRID RISER)

In partnership with Magma Global, the manufacturer of the world's most advanced composite pipe, and BrasFels, a Brazilian shipyard of Keppel Offshore & Marine, Ocyan presents a new solution for deepwater riser systems: the CompRiser® (CMHR - Composite Multi-Bore Hybrid Riser). The technology offers numerous benefits to offshore production, including ease of assembly, high corrosion resistance, up to 80% reduction in load applied to the FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading), and the ability to withstand high temperatures and pressure.

new energies

We have an ESG commitment to achieve 25% of our revenue from clean energies until 2040. Therefore, we are investing in the development of various possibilities related to new energies.

We look to leverage our offshore expertise to explore the significant potential of offshore wind energy in Brazil, contributing to the evolution of the energy sector and creating value for our stakeholders.

Our entry into this market will involve a detailed study of synergies between our existing offshore and subsea activities and the anticipated activities in the offshore wind market. This includes exploring business models such as EPCI for cable installation in offshore wind farms. Furthermore, we are actively seeking partnerships for pre-assembly, assembly, and maintenance of wind turbines to position ourselves alongside turbine manufacturers for future involvement in this market.
In just two years (2019 – 2021), the biogas market has doubled its national production capacity, according to Abiogás. This positions Brazil as a powerhouse in this segment, where energy is generated from the decomposition of organic matter in a biodigester. The fermentation and decomposition processes in the biodigester produce biogas, the raw material for biomethane. Biomethane is used in the production of advanced fuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), biodiesel, and synthetic petroleum. Similar to biogas, biomethane also generates electrical energy. Until 2032, it is projected that 19.2 billion normal cubic meters (Nm³) will be generated, achieving a potential of 2.1 GW average for electricity export. Interested in this market, we leverage synergies and knowledge gained in the oil and gas sector to collaborate with other companies with the goal of providing technology, nationalizing equipment, manufacturing and pre-assembling modules/skids, as well as engaging in installation/integration, operation, and maintenance of the unit. Our focus is on biogas production from agave, a plant genus typical of Mexico. We are developing a concept for the assessment and scaling of an integrated plant for defibration and biogas generation from sisal leaves and constructing and testing a pilot plant in the Brazilian hinterlands.
We are studying the green hydrogen value chain and seeking partnerships for future involvement in this market.
We are studying possibilities for improve our knowledge in the carbon capture market with the aim of developing partnerships for future involvement in this area.
We continually work to optimize our processes and offer digital solutions for the energy market. Based on our vision of the future and business priorities, the challenges and opportunities for Ocyan's sustainable growth are prioritized on the various fronts of the company's Innovation framework. The implementation of projects is coordinated and monitored by a portfolio management area and its enablers include adequate allocation of resources, engagement and acculturation of the internal public and systematic interaction with the innovation ecosystem.

To expand our value offer to the market, we are structuring a platform of digital and technology solutions, with the aim of creating an integrated solution for asset and operations management. This new portfolio of products and services reinforces Ocyan's positioning as one of the service providers in the sector that invests the most in innovation in the country.

We also aim to strengthen our relationships with startups, not only through hiring and partnerships, but also through investments.
